The TASER X26C electronic control device (ECD) is based on the standard law enforcement TASER X26. The TASER X26C uses replaceable air cartridges containing compressed nitrogen to fire two barbed probes attached to conductive wires. These probes must connect with the target and create a circuit. Electrical pulses are then cycled over the wires and into the body, jamming sensory and motor functions and inhibiting muscular control. This effect will continue as long as the TASER device is activated. TASER brand devices can also be used in direct contact stun mode, with or without the air cartridge installed. The TASER X26C is safer and more effective than many other less-lethal defense options (such as pepper spray, impact weapons & stun guns) which require close proximity to an attacker, and often prove to be ineffective on individuals under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
