That is 160 times faster than its nearest competitor. This quick recharge allows the light to always be ready - no need to carry multiple flashlights, purchase multiple chargers, or have to remember to charge your light after a long shift. In just 90 seconds, your Light for Life™ UC3.400 will be fully charged, and ready to produce another 90 minutes of light. How It Works The Light for Life™ contains no batteries, but rather a proprietary energy management system that utilizes revolutionary ultracapacitors and computer circuitry. Ultracapacitors have the ability to quickly load energy, and then quickly unload it – producing the flash in most cameras. Up until this point, no one has been able to control both the way the ultracapacitors load, store and unload the energy. The ultracapacitors also have the ability to release energy at precise levels while maximizing performance and run time. The proprietary circuitry, together with the ultracapacitors, is what makes Flashpoint™ Power Technology. Nothing To Replace Unlike traditional rechargeable battery systems that develop memory, degrade, and have a life expectancies of 500 – 1000 charge/discharge cycles, the Flashpoint™ Power Technology system is rated for 50,000 charge/discharge cycles - with virtually no degradation. Performance Key performance specifications for the UC3.400™ include 270 lumens peak output: 90 lumens in standard mode, and a 270 lumen tactical strobe. Click the button once, and the light will operate for 60 minutes in standard mode (90 lumens), at which point it will reduce itself to a 25 lumen standby mode for an additional 30 minutes. This mode is effective to give adequate light for most applications, is equivelant to most 2-D cell flashlights. Press and hold the button for a 270 lumen peak mode for 15 minutes - again followed by 30 minutes of standby. This mode is effective when a burst is needed to light a large area, or throw the beam a long distance. Press the button twice, and the light will produce a 270 lumen tactical strobe used to signal others or to disorient a perpetrator, giving you valuable time to assess the situation. After the light has depleted its stored energy, just drop it into the DC charging base. The blue light on the charging base will flash slowly at first, then faster as the energy is loaded into the system. After 90 seconds, the blue light will be solid, and your light is fully charged - ready to produce for another 90 minutes. Environment The Light for Life™ flashlight runs on ultracapacitors rather than batteries. Ultracapacitors contain no heavy metals – they are made up mostly of carbon and aluminum, with a small amount of electrolyte. They use less energy to charge, and will never have to be replaced.
